On Friday 2nd March, the Chairman of Tandridge District Council, Brian Perkins and his wife Sonia were on hand to welcome local accountancy firm, Champ Consultants, to their new larger offices in Caterham's Westway. After meeting other local businesses and clients of the firm at their open office afternoon, Brian Perkins said: "It is always pleasing to meet local businesses that are thriving and growing and to see another empty premises filled in the locality and I wish Champ Consultants every success for the future."

Started by Chantal and Matthew in 1999, like many small businesses they started working from home in Caterham until the business outgrew the home office and staff were taken on. They spent the past six years in an office behind Knights Garden Centre in Chelsham.

With over 40 years of experience of business between them, Chantal and Matthew can help their clients throughout the year rather than just being the once a year tax return time service. Chantal is a specialist Chartered Tax Advisor which really enhances her tax knowledge over the normal accountancy qualification.

The office consists of four qualified accountants, and two bookkeep-ers/admin staff. They deal with all the financial red tape that can trip up small businesses, making sure deadlines for tax, VAT and payroll returns are not missed.

An important fact that they pride themselves on is that they are here to help you to save tax and that they will speak to you in plain language, not jargon.

Both Chantal and Matthew are active in the local community too. Chantal is on a local school PTA and prepares their accounts each year. Matthew is treasurer of local community station Ridge Radio and also a local Scout leader.
