At the Grand Opening of the new building of Oasis Academy Coulsdon on Wednesday 23rd November, Lord Adonis said the Academy had all the makings to be a 'fantastic school' for students and the community as he unveiled a plaque and officially declared the new building 'open'. He spent over two hours touring the building, meeting students and staff and enjoyed showcase performances in gymnastics, dance and music. In his whole school address, Lord Adonis told students that amazing things had happened in the five years since his last visit to the predecessor school. He said the building was inspirational but what happens inside matters the most. He praised the 'great leadership' of David Millar and led students in a round of applause for their Principal. Lord Adonis told students that there was nothing holding them back from making great achievements, they had everything they needed to succeed: people had invested money in the building, staff were investing their time and skills and they had great facilities in which to learn. He urged students to try hard in their subjects but reminded them that they should also put something back into their Academy and local community. |
