At a special assembly recently, Croydon High Junior School presented a cheque for the impressive total of £1,408.14 to Hannah Auer, Fundraising Events Manager for Clic Sergeant. The money had been raised from donations at the school choir's Carol Concert and also following their appearance at a special event last December at the Albert Hall which was in support of the children's cancer charity. The choir also sang at the 'Celebrate A Life' ceremony at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton before Christmas, so the charity is becoming very close to all hearts at Croydon High. Ms Auer told the girls how much their donation will mean for children and young people living with the effects of cancer. In a moving speech, she said that there is so much that can be done to make things better in what are sometimes terribly difficult circumstances. One of the school's Year 6 girls, Katya Pitt, read a message that she had written herself showing how much the girls understand the importance of Clic Sergeant's work and how they want to support them. Afterwards, Ms Auer said she had found the assembly one of the most inspiring and impressive she had been to, with wonderful performances from the choir and from soloist Riana Patel and pianist Katharine Walker. |
