Lord Dholakia opens Oakhyrst Grange’s new teaching block
Published: Tuesday, 27 March 2012 20:41

Lord Dholakia ceremoniously cuts the ribbon assisted by young pupils from Oakhyrst Grange School.

On Monday 27th February, Oakhyrst Grange School held the official opening of their new teaching block, after a ceremony attended by The Right Honourable the Lord Dholakia and fifty guests. The building was opened with the cutting of a ribbon, and the guests were entertained with several performances by the children of the school. Children as young as five years old performed poetry and sang songs, and individual instrumentalists played a variety of pieces. Year 5 and Year 6 children will now be using the facilities as their class base and the new building allows for the development of peripatetic music and the Arts. The FairDene Trust have kindly contributed towards the development of the Arts at Oakhyrst Grange.

Oakhyrst Grange School is going from strength to strength; with successes in sports and music, and their academic achievements. This year, 64% of the current Year 6 will be moving on to their senior schools with scholarships, bursaries or awards. Oakhyrst Grange prides itself on its independence, sending children to a range of regional Senior Independent Schools and Grammar Schools, including Whitgift, Trinity, Woldingham, Caterham and Wallington to name a few.
