On a sunny Monday afternoon we launched our first joint One Step at a Time session at Hamsey Green Children’s Centre. Parents and carers chatted together sharing family experiences and supporting each other in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere whilst their children explored the sensory play activities, delving into the ball pool, discovering the starry sky material, searching through the treasure baskets and smelling the citrus scented play dough - it looked good enough to eat! Everyone received a goody bag, play dough, bubbles and cupcakes to share at home – a brilliant time was had by all. Just another Play Session? No. Since Monday 12th May we have been providing a weekly session that supports the families of our Under fives who have or may have additional needs. The group is facilitated jointly between Children’s Centre staff, Portage, Homestart, Early Support and parents. We came together at the suggestion of parents, carers and their children to provide a service that supports the whole family. We offer a safe, active sensory play environment for children and their siblings to achieve and learn together, whilst their parents and carers can relax, offload and receive advice and support. Together we are achieving ‘One Step at a Time’.

To find out more call 01883 625255 or come along to the session which is held every Monday afternoon from 1pm- 2.30pm at Hamsey Green Children’s Centre, Tithepit Shaw Lane, Warlingham CR6 9AN. We look forward to meeting you.
