Richard York.

This month we feature Chaldon resident, Richard York. Richard is a member of Caterham Rotary Club and is the main organiser of the annual Rotary Easter Bunny Fun Run.

Birthplace: Stamford, Lincs.

Marital Status: Happily married to Janet for over 46 years.

Children: Four children and six grandchildren.

Cars: My favourite was a little yellow mini which has long gone.

Pastimes: Family, Rotary, reading, walking, Sudoku and napping.

Favourite Food & Drink: Seafood and wine.

Likes: Looking at the lawn when I have just cut it; Organising the Rotary Bunny Fun Run.

Dislikes: Chairs that I can’t rest my head in.

Favourite TV show: Topical humour like ‘Have I got News for You’.

Favourite book: ‘Ender’s Game’ and all the Ender Saga by Orson Scott Card.

Proudest moment: The birth of my children and what they are doing in life.

Biggest influence on your life: My father.

Favourite holiday destination: A beautiful island in the South China Sea.

Who would you most like to throw a custard pie at? Selfish drivers.

Favourite song of all time: ‘Hotel California’ by The Eagles or ‘Spiegel im Spiegel’ by Arvo Part.

Most embarrassing moment: Betting a friend to cut my hair and having to spend the day at school with half a shaved head. I spent the money on fireworks.

Where would you most like to live? Chaldon but not on Rook Lane!

Who would you most like to meet? Alive: The Pope. Dead: Spike Milligan.

If you won the Lottery jackpot, how would you spend it? Paying off my children’s debts and flying long haul business class.
