Local senior citizens enjoy an afternoon of entertainment
Published: Monday, 31 October 2016 12:14

This year was the 23rd anniversary of the Caterham Rotary Club's Reach Out event. 150 senior citizens from Caterham, Whyteleafe and Warlingham were invited along as guests on Thursday 29th  October at the Surrey National Golf Club.

Following a two-course lunch they were entertained by local singer John Lazenby who gave them plenty of opportunities to dance and jive the afternoon away.

Homemade cakes were served by Rotarian’s partners towards the end of the afternoon and the event was rounded off with songs from Caterham Rotary’s “Singing team" who were well supported by Luke's Larks under the direction of Rikki Nicholls.

Local resident Margaret Brown commented “We have really enjoyed ourselves here this afternoon and are very grateful to Caterham Rotary Club for all their hard work in making this possible.”

Organiser of the event Steph Barrett Chair of Caterham Rotary's Community Service team commented, "We really enjoy putting on this event for our local senior citizens. We are very grateful to Caroline Wells the Events Manager at Surrey National Golf Club for enabling us to provide a special lunch and to local singer John Lazenby for once again delivering a very professional performance to entertain our special guests."

The event will be held again next year on Thursday 26th October.
