Letitia Dean, Richard Cadell with Sooty and Sweep, Keavy Lynch, Stephen Dean and Adam Daye, have taken time out of their busy schedules whilst appearing in Sleeping Beauty at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon to urge local people to do something worthwhile and help a local charity.
Marie Curie Cancer Care wants volunteers to really help by sparing time to work in their local Marie Curie shop.
Spokesperson for Marie Curie, Karen Green, said: "Volunteers need to be able to make a regular commitment but in doing so they will get to help with all aspects of working in the shop whilst they remain open between 9.30 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. Covering a morning or an afternoon once a week is an ideal way of helping out, and if you can spare more time that's even better." Letitia Dean wants local people to get involved and said "Marie Curie shops provide an essential service and by volunteering you will help a very worthy cause. Without volunteers the shops would not be able to operate. Whatever your age or experience Marie Curie can use your help in their shops."
If you would like to find out more about volunteering please contact the Caterham shop on 01883 345335, the Banstead shop on 01737 355860 or the Coulsdon shop on 0208 763 8364 and ask to speak to the shop manager.
Alternatively, if volunteering in a shop is not for you, why not help out at one of the charity's many Great Daffodil collections across Surrey during March. By sparing a couple of hours and offering a daffodil for a donation, you can make a difference to the nursing care in your community.
Karen said: "By taking part in the Great Daffodil Appeal, volunteers will raise money that will help local Marie Curie Nurses to care for more terminally ill patients."
Don't delay and pick up the phone to register to volunteer today. To turn hours of volunteering into free nursing care, please call Ros Hooper on 01883 832643.
