Over three hundred Easter eggs were given away at this year's Rotary Bunny Fun Run, one for every finisher in the Easter Bunny 1K Fun Run and 5K Race. The event, held at Queen's Park in Caterham on Sunday 17th April, was organised by the Rotary Club of Caterham in aid of St. Catherine's Hospice and Rotary charities. The large family crowd basked in the glorious sunshine and cheered on the runners/walkers of all shapes and sizes. First home in the 1K Fun Run was George Page followed by Nathan Smith. Coming in at number 114 was Ice, a blue-eyed white buck rabbit who was a great favourite with the children. The winner in the 5K Race was Rolf Chouton in 19 minutes 51 seconds with H C Cohen in second place and Michael Chinn in third place. The first lady home, in fifth place, was Phillis Flynn in 20 minutes 54 seconds. The Vice Chairman of Tandridge District Council, Cllr. Brian Perkins, started the race and presented the prizes assisted by Rotary Club President, Mike Smith. The MC was Mike Fleet, ex GB athlete and coach, who has a book out soon called I also Ran with a forward by Sir Christopher Chataway. It was also discovered that Councilor Perkins was Welsh national athlete and holder of the 7 mile cross country title a few years ago. The organisers would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part, and to the local businesses who sponsored the event: Ross Cycles, Catax Taxis, BCL Systems, Harestone Lops, Local Event Photos, Tandridge District Council and The Caterham and District Independent.
