This year, The Arc in Caterham-on-the-Hill is one of the beneficiaries of The Caterham Carnival that takes place on Westway Common on Saturday 11th June. All of the Arc's dedicated directors are artists in a variety of fields and never pass the opportunity to do something creative and fun. As part of their recent funding award to work in local schools, artist Helen Manners who is at The Arc every Friday with her Bloomin' Arts Theatre and Art group has gone into schools to make procession pieces for the Carnival. Lat week, 22 of de Stafford School’s KS3 Gifted and Talented Art Students were taken off of timetable for the day on Tuesday 10th May to work with Artist Helen Manners from Lets Celebrate to design and create carnival costumes with the theme of 'Futuristic'. Lucy Wheeler, head of Graphics at the School said: "The students certainly entered into the spirit of things and the costumes they made were fabulous! We can't wait until Caterham Carnival on Saturday 11th May to show off our work". With days like these and with other schools on board as well as a Carnival Art day at The Arc on Tuesday 31st May, this years Carnival and Procession looks set to be the biggest, brightest and best yet!
