The beautiful grounds of 'The Chalet' in Tupwood Lane, Caterham Valley, is to provide the venue for an exciting new event coming to Caterham this July. The 'Classic Summer Evening' is being held to raise funds for the Tandridge Community Fund - a fund set in trust for perpetuity, with the proceeds being made available for Tandridge charities, particularly those having difficulty finding support.

Local businessman David Gold, the patron of the Tandridge Community Fund, lives at 'The Chalet' with his fiancée Lesley and they will be hosting this very special concert. Songwriter and founder of the Orpheus Centre in Godstone, Richard Stilgoe, has agreed to be the compere for the evening.

Jeremy Webster, a supporter of the Tandridge Community Fund who conceived the idea for a classical concert, said: "I've been overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received to help make the concert a success. I am hugely grateful to David Gold for allowing us to hold the concert in his grounds.

I am also thrilled that Richard Stilgoe will be our compere for the evening. We just need to sell lots of tickets and pray for warm, dry weather!"

The grounds will open at 2pm to allow guests to start arriving and set up their picnic tables. Local singers will be performing from 4pm until 6pm, when Classical and Cuban guitarist Ahmed Dickinson will provide pleasant background music before the main concert gets underway at 7.30pm. The concert will feature an abundance of musical talent from pianist Yuki Negishi, Aisling Ennis playing the harp, and flautist Julie Groves as well as pieces performed by the London Myriad Ensemble Wind Quintet and the Blackheath String Quartet.
