On Saturday 2nd July an exhibition of Islam was held in Chaldon Village Hall to create awareness of the religion to the general public. The exhibition featured literature and displays of holy text and had members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association (AMA) on hand to answer visitors' questions. The AMA members were keen to dispel common misconceptions about Islam, especially with regard to the position of women in Muslim society. They explained that in Islam, many rights for women were available for centuries before they were introduced in Europe e.g. ownership of property. Dominating the exhibition was a series of banners with biographies and photographs of the Khulafaa, the religion's spiritual leaders.
