The children of Essendene Lodge School in Caterham-on-the-Hill swapped their uniform for Santa suits this week to launch this year's St Catherine's Hospice Santa Run. At 10.30 am on Sunday 20th November the festive 3km run will set off from Queen's Park in Caterham-on-the-Hill. Kishwar Ali, Acting Head from Essendene Lodge School said: "We're delighted to help launch the Santa Run and encourage others to take part. It's the ideal, fun event for people of all ages to join together and get in the mood for the Christmas Season, while raising funds in support of the vital care St Catherine's provides so join 'Team Essendene' on the day!" Jen Wickham, Events Fundraiser at St Catherine's Hospice, said: "St Catherine's is there for local people and their loved ones all year round to provide care and comfort and it costs over £13,000 a day. Thanks to events like the Santa Run, you can play your part in helping others, and have a great time along the way. "It's easy to sign up and there's a well-deserved medal and festive refreshments at the finish line for all who take part." Advance registration is open from now until 10th November at just £10 for adults and £5 for children aged 16 or under. Everyone who signs up receives their own Santa outfit, with under sixes receiving a Santa hat. This year's Santa Run is sponsored by local train company Southern Railway who will automatically enter each participant into a prize draw to win Southern travel vouchers. Sarah Evans, CSR and Partnership Manager at Southern Railway said: "St Catherine's Hospice cares for communities at the heart of our network and we're delighted to sponsor this year's event." |
