Caterham Rotary has donated £500 for the relief of hunger in the current famine in the Horn of Africa. The club decided that the key factor was to route contributions to established charities with a presence on the ground in the affected areas. Therefore they have channelled their contribution through the Disaster Emergency Committee who spread their funding over the fourteen well-known charities who comprise the Committee and can make best use of the funds. Caterham Rotary also supports 'Shelterboxes' on a regular basis who distribute aid to provide shelter and assistance to people displaced by the famine and flooding all over the world.
