Chairman of Tandridge District Council, Councillor Brian Perkins will be attending the Remembrance Day service at Lingfield War Memorial, on Sunday 13 November at 10.45am (10.30am service at Gunpit Pond). He will be accompanied by his wife Sonia, MP Sam Gyimah, Tandridge's Assistant Chief Executive Keith Price. The Chairman will also take part in the wreath laying ceremony at Kenley Aerodrome at 1.30pm. These are just two of the many church services and Remembrance Day parades held throughout the district to commemorate the soldiers, sailors and airmen killed and injured in the two World Wars and all the conflicts since then. Tandridge councillors and officers will also be representing the Chairman at the following services and parades: • Nutfield Memorial Hall, 10am: Councillor Marian Myland and David Gray. • St. John's, Dormansland, 10.30am: Councillor Michael Sydney and Richard Woodward. • St. John's, Hurst Green, 10am: Councillor Elizabeth Parker and June Reed. • St. Luke's, Whyteleafe, 10.45am: Councillor Sakina Bradbury and Michele Townsend. • St. Nicholas', Godstone, 10.15am: Councillor Rose Thorn and Paul Barton. Parade starts at 9.30am from Godstone Green to the church and there is a return parade after the service. • St. Mary's, Bletchingley, 10.45am: Councillor Tony Elias and Charlotte Hammerton. • St. Mary's, Caterham, 10.45am: Councillor Jeremy Webster and Paul Newdick. Parade starts from Town End, High Street at 10.15am to St Mary's Church, Church Hill and return parade after the service. Wreath laying at 10.30am. • St. Mary's, Oxted, 10.40am: Councillor Gordon Keymer CBE and Piers Mason. Parade starts at 10am from the Royal British Legion, followed by the wreath laying at the memorial and to St Mary's Church for the service. There is a return parade after the service. • St. Peter's, Limpsfield, 10am: Honorary Alderman Eric Morgan. 9.30am parade from Sylvan Close to St Peter's Church and return parade after the service. • Warlingham War Memorial, 11am: Councillor Glynis Whittle and Stuart Mitchenall. 10am parade from Mint Walk to the green and return parade after the service. Other parades taking place are: • Blindley Heath 9.45am: Parade from Cottenhams to St John's Meadow. • Caterham Valley, 9.40am: Parade from Scout Headquarters 105 Godstone Road to St John's Church, Clareville Road and return parade after the service. Chairman of the Council, Councillor Brian Perkins, said: "If you are driving around the area on Sunday 13 November please be patient if you are caught up behind a parade. The parades are in memory of all those who have fought and lost their lives in wars." |
