The Downlands Project (with sister project Old Surrey Downs) is offering a wide range of practical conservation volunteering opportunities throughout the year for all ages, including offering corporate and school volunteering days upon request, plus special family events. Why not come out as a group for team building? It is good to have a de-stress and escape the air-con/computer screen session once in a while. We have already welcomed lots of groups from local companies and organisations out with us over the last few years. Alternatively, why not join us on a Sunday, whilst on leave or during school holidays if you have a family, even if for only a couple of hours? Please note all under 15s to be accompanied by an adult please. We are carrying out a lot of essential scrub clearance, coppicing and tree planting during this autumn/winter and would greatly appreciate some help! We provide tea/coffee, biscuits, tools and gloves, but please bring a packed lunch if staying all day, plus water, and ensure that you wear suitable outdoor clothing and stout footwear. Our new winter volunteer task programme up to March 2012 lists lots of opportunities to get involved with helping to restore various beautiful countryside areas across NE Surrey and South London. Please contact us as below to get your copy today! If you do not fancy practical volunteering but love a good walk, which is just as invigorating as practical volunteering, then the Project has a wide range of beautifully illustrated self-guided walk leaflets for lovely circular and linear routes across Surrey and South London. The latest addition to the portfolio is the Dorking to Gomshall walk taking you along the North Downs through some of the finest chalk grassland in Surrey. Other popular walk leaflets include North Downs Ridge (from Reigate Hill), Shabden & Upper Gatton Parks (Chipstead) and the Downlands Circular Walk (Chaldon/Caterham). All walk leaflets are available free of charge from the Project. Further project information and a full list of the walk leaflets can be found on our website www.downlandsproject.org.uk. Our volunteer Marion Davis also offers lovely guided walks throughout the year. Please call the Project on 01737 737700 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to find out more about volunteering opportunities and/or to get your copy of any walk leaflets. The Project looks forward to hearing from you and to hopefully welcoming you out with them soon. |
