Whyteleafe Village Council has installed festive lights along the Godstone Road, through the centre of the village this year for the first time. The new lights follow on from the Village Council's donation to Whyteleafe Business Association in 2010 to purchase a generator to power the Christmas tree lights in the centre of Whyteleafe roundabout. A simple blue and white shooting stars theme has been chosen and the stars will shine from 5.00pm to 11.30pm every day until Friday 6th January. Special thanks are due to Skanska Construction UK Ltd for a speedy response on adapting the street lights to power the decorations. Chairman of the Village Council, Cllr Celia Rudland, said: "The decorations will brighten up the centre of Whyteleafe during the darkest winter evenings and help to get people in the festive mood as they use Whyteleafe's shops, restaurants, transport links and other facilities. "We are very keen for residents and businesses in Whyteleafe to say what they think about the lights and the Council's other activities. The new website at www.whyteleafecouncil.org. uk offers local residents an easy way to comment on specific articles, sign up for the monthly newsletter, and email councillors and the clerk." |
