Claire Skeet from Caterham- on-the-Hill will soon be testing her driving skills behind the wheel of a Caterham Seven after winning our Caterham Seven Slalom Experience competition last month! The prize, generously donated by Caterham Cars, was for a full day's slalom experience for two people, so Claire will be taking a friend with her to share the fun. Claire has said she will send us a photo of her day to put in a future edition of The Caterham and District Independent. A big 'thank you' to everyone who entered the competition and sent us their views on the Caterham Seven showroom remaining in Caterham. As we anticipated, everyone who entered expressed the wish for the iconic car to remain in Caterham and here are just a few of the many comments we received: "Caterham Cars are the essence of Caterham and are its claim to fame." Chris "I would like to see Caterham Cars stay as it could bring F1 fans to Caterham, which in turns brings us new customers to the local shops/restaurants and also new businesses may wish to set up in Caterham. It is a great place to live and even better to have some strong brands located here. Caterham needs to keep companies here, not lose them." Amanda "The Caterham brand is synonymous with all that is great about British engineering excellence. Our little island has led the world in technical innovation for more than 200 years and we should be proud of that heritage. Keeping the brand closely attached to its geographic roots would be a brave demonstration of the company's commitment to its history. Long may Caterham stay in the town and let's all hope for F1 success in the coming years." Gerry |
