Warlingham will be celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with a giant picnic on School Common on the afternoon of Sunday 3rd June. The whole of Warlingham is invited to bring along a picnic, spend the afternoon in the sunshine and enjoy the entertainment. The event will also feature a stage for local bands and other performers, a funfair, activities, games, demonstrations, arts and crafts, food stalls, a beer tent and lots of other things to see and do. The Jubilee picnic is being organised by a working group of Warlingham Parish Council, comprising councillors and other members of the community. Working group chairman, Robin Bloore said: "Rather than have a number of scattered street parties, we want to organise an event that will attract the whole village to School Common, bringing the community together. "While we are organising lots of things to keep people entertained throughout the whole afternoon, we also want to keep the feeling relaxed and informal. "Over the coming days we will be sending out invitations to as many local musicians and organisations as we can think of, but I will issue this public invitation now to anyone, or any organisation, that wants to get involved to contact us as soon as possible." To find out more about the day, or how to get involved contact Warlingham Parish Council Clerk Gina Caunt at 26 Leazes Avenue, Chaldon, Caterham, Surrey, CR3 5AH, tel: 01883 342915 or email: clerk@warlinghampc. org.uk |
