de Stafford School and Surrey County Council are pleased to announce that the on-going problems with de Stafford sports centre floor are on track to be completed by the beginning of March. The facility which is used by the school during the day and the community in the evenings, weekends and the school holidays has been awaiting a new floor after problems with the structure. David Hodge, the new leader of Surrey County Council has been instrumental in ensuring the school now has the financial assistance to allow this project to go ahead, with the school contributing towards the floor's replacement as well. The floor is being supplied by Gerflor who have offered a generous discount to Surrey County Council and de Stafford School to be a pilot for this flooring, which de Stafford say they are delighted to accept and believe it will demonstrate the commitment Surrey County Council is providing for both the school and the local community. A spokesperson for Gerflor said: "The new floor is Taraflex Sport M Comfort (P3). This is a point elastic sports floor that offers 48% force reduction and the highest levels of comfort on the market. It is particularly suited to younger and older players within the community, from falls, deliberate dives, eradication of skin burns and reduction of repetitive impact injuries." Miss Caroline Longhurst, head teacher at de Stafford, said: "The work is scheduled to go ahead in February and we are planning a grand opening for the beginning of March. We hope the sports hall, which will also get a cosmetic overhaul from the Tandridge Trust, will be back to full working order and a fantastic facility for everyone in Caterham and surrounding areas to enjoy very soon." |
