Caterham and Kenley Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) is looking for 100 people to each donate £4 by the end of February to launch their 2012 Wings Appeal. Evelyn Klein, RAFA's Wings Appeal organiser said: "This would be a real kickstart for our welfare ambitions in 2012. To show our gratitude, each donor will get a copy of our 2012 wall calendar for free". RAFA wants to become more widely known in the local area and is looking for new members to join the Kenley & Caterham Branch. Mike Roach, chairman of Caterham and Kenley RAFA, explained: "We are a friendly group of former RAF service personnel and others from different backgrounds who all share an interest in keeping memories alive of those who served in the Royal Air Force. Our voluntary welfare team supports the nationwide Wings Appeal to help former RAF service personnel and their families in times of need. In order to continue this work effectively we need to recruit young new members. Our calendar gives a flavour of our activities and events so we coupled our donations appeal with the handout of a copy of the calendar." RAFA meets every Tuesday night from 8pm and every Sunday afternoon from 12 noon to 3pm at the Portcullis Club on Kenley Airfield. Access is via Salmons Lane West/Victor Beamish Avenue (signposted). More information is also available at 'www.rafakenley. com'. Donations to the Wings Appeal can be made at Computer Solutions and The Royal Oak pub, both situated in the High Street, Caterham-on-the-Hill. All those who make a £4 donation will be given a RAFA calendar. Alternatively donations can be made at the Portcullis Club or by phoning Hartmut Klein on 020 8668 7540 e-mail: kleihar@ web.de |
