The Tandridge Community Fund (TCF) are partnering with St. Mary's Church in Caterham to present a concert entitled 'Music for the Jubilee' this summer to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The concert will feature the orchestra of St. Paul's Church in Covent Garden who will be performing music by renowned composers Butterworth, Elgar, Finzi, Handel, Parry, Purcell, Vaughan Williams, Walton and Wood. Jeremy Webster of the Tandridge Community Fund said: "Our open-air Classic Summer Concert in the grounds of David Gold's house last summer was very popular, but was at the mercy of the elements! We wanted to hold another fundraising concert for TCF this year but without the worry about the weather. We are thrilled that Reverend Duncan Swan has offered us St. Mary's Church as a venue for the concert, which is a fantastic gesture and we are extremely grateful." The concert is being held at 6.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday, June 4th when 2,012 beacons will be lit by communities across the nation as part of the Jubilee celebrations. The concert will include a 'picnic supper break' when the audience will have the opportunity to take a picnic across the road to Queen's Park. In the event of rain, picnics can be eaten in the newly-refurbished church hall. Reverend Duncan Swan said: "I think the concert will be a great event for the community and St. Mary's Church. We are praying for good weather!" The cost of tickets and how to purchase them will be announced in the March edition of The Caterham and District Independent.
