The Arc Arts and Recreation Centre in Weston Drive, Caterham-on-the-Hill is thrilled to announce a very exciting project to celebrate the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee. The Arc will be working in partnership with Jean Hammond, a textile artist based at Tollers Design Centre and with the Caterham Festival to create an outdoor piece to be displayed throughout June. For the first stage young artists aged 6-18 years are being invited to design the piece to commemorate the Jubilee. This will eventually be 8ft by 4ft and will be bordered by diamonds. The design can be traditional or modern. If young artists would like to create their pieces at the Arc, arts practitioners will be handing out sheets and lending a hand during the February Half Term holidays. All entries need to be received at the Arc by Saturday 18th February and will be judged by Jean on February 20th. The winning design will then be transferred onto a plastic base and will be created collaboratively as a textile piece by as many schools and youth groups as possible. If your school or group would like to participate please get in touch with Beth Wood at the Arc on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
