Hopping his way to the finish line at this year's Rotary Bunny Fun Run will be 'Shawn', another little blue-eyed white mini lop like 'Ice' that ran last year. Harestonelops is entering a team of runners/walkers in each run and if anyone would like to join them full details are on the web site www.harestonelops.webs.com. Harestonelops support Prostate Cancer Research and they will also have a stall with lucky dip, homemade biscuits, animal bits and bobs and free rabbit advice. The fifth Rotary Easter Bunny Fun Run is on Sunday 1st April in Queen's Park Caterham with a 1k Fun Run starting at 10am and a 5k Race starting at 10.30am. Runners/walkers may choose to raise money for their own charity or for this year's nominated charity, Disability Challengers. Disability Challengers currently supports 34 local families with a play and activity scheme for disabled youngsters aged 4-25, giving them a place to mix and have fun with others in a safe environment. It is a fantastic charity but runners can also get sponsorship for whatever charity they choose. Charities are invited to put together their own teams to take part in the race and raise funds. Every finisher is given an Easter egg with the prize winning best dressed bunnies and fastest runners getting larger eggs. Last year saw nearly four hundred participants enjoy excellent weather and a party atmosphere on Queens Park while raising over two thousand five hundred pounds for good causes. Come and join in the fun in 2012. The theme is Easter Bunnies and usually many competitors in the 1k and some in the 5k dress up in a wide variety of Bunny outfits. The 5k race was completed by the winner in 2011 in a just under twenty minutes while the last competitors came in hand in hand after an hour. A registration form and fee is required for each runner. The registration fee (non refundable) is £5 for the 5k race and £2.50 for the 1k run. Registration taken out on the day is double the pre registration cost. As well as Harestonelops Caterham Rotary are pleased to have the support of other local companies: Surrey National Golf Club, The Caterham and District Independent, Catax Ltd, Ross Cycles, Budgens and BCL Systems.
