Caterham Sea Cadets are desperately trying to raise the last £5,000 it needs to replace their old minibus which failed its MOT 'catastrophically' recently.
For nearly two years the cadets have been raising money for a new bus, by holding house-to-house and street collections and fundraising events including a sponsored sky-dive. So far they have raised £15,000 but are still £5,000 short of their target.
Sub-Lieutenant, Aaron Clarke, said: "The boating season is fast approaching but without a bus we will not be able to get to all of the activities our cadets are involved with, nor be able to tow our boats back and forth each parade night. We are going to be beneficiaries of this year's Caterham Carnival, but unfortunately that will be too late to provide the funds we need now. We were hoping our old bus would last us a few months longer, but the cost of repairs would be phenomenal so it has gone to the big garage in the sky. Our success this season rests with us securing donations this month."
If any individual, business or organisation would like to make a donation to the Caterham Sea Cadets minibus fund, please telephone Sub-Lieutenant Aaron Clarke on 07834 827654.
