62 guests enjoyed a delicious three-course meal with live entertainment at The ARC recently, to celebrate the re-opening of the popular local arts and recreational centre. Aldo and Marcia Floris, who own La Fiaba Italian restaurant in Caterham Valley, hosted the event which took place in the newly redecorated performing arts studio last Sunday, 21st February. As well as being a celebration, the event was also organised to help boost the funds to pay for the second stage of the restoration project, and raised the princely sum of ?660.
The popular Frank Sinatra tribute singer, Ian Gallagher, entertained the diners with a superb medley of hits throughout the course of the afternoon. Guest of honour, Dick Moran, who has spearheaded the re-opening of The ARC, said: "It's great to have Aldo involved with The ARC. He has equipped the kitchen at his own expense in order to provide a cafe service in our soft play area. He has such enthusiasm and along with Marcia, has worked very hard to help us make a success of the project. I'm very grateful to him for donating the proceeds of today's lunch to our restoration fund."
Following the event, Aldo said that he was delighted the function was such a success.
"It was hard work, and it was the first time Marcia and I had organised something like this at The ARC. I had some very nice compliments afterwards from the guests so I think we will be holding more lunches in future!"
