On Friday 11th May, fundraisers Denise Todd and Julie Cornish will be celebrating the completion of the refurbishment of the Glebe playground in Woldingham. Families are invited to join in the celebrations in the playground at 3.30pm, straight after school. The children can enjoy trying out the new equipment while grandparents, parents and carers can check that the bench and picnic table are fit for purpose!

Denise said: "We wish to thank all those who have supported this project both through donations and helping in so many different ways on our journey. One of the main donors has been the Big Lottery Fund who funded the installation of the climbing frame and its safety surfacing. But without everyone's invaluable contributions, our dream would never have become a reality."

Julie added: "Neither of us could have ever imagined that a moan over a cup of coffee at the 123 toddler club in Woldingham four years ago would have triggered a full-blown fund raising project, which this subsequently became. But, as two young mums in the village, we felt passionate enough about improving this facility for our children that we set about the diverse tasks involved. "

Denise and Julie consulted the local community through a questionnaire which led to a meeting with the Glebe Committee as landowner, who agreed to support the project.

Denise said: "With the committee behind us the task then began which included many hours of research, form filling, phone calls, leafleting, organising fund raising events, trawling the web, negotiating with manufacturers and co-ordinating the installations, not to mention good old hands-on digging, sawing and raking! Every aspect of the playground has now been updated to a lesser or greater extent, which is fantastic news and provides a great facility for our children for the foreseeable future."

Denise and Julie look forward to seeing everyone on Friday 11th May when cakes and drinks will be available at the Glebe Playground opening event.
