'CrossFit' is the exercise phenomenon which has swept across America and is gearing up to take over the rest of the world too. The short, intense sessions seem to appeal equally to super fit muscle machines and time pressed mums. Caterham residents Sophie and Steve Bradshaw-Haydock discovered the CrossFit programme just over two years ago and opened their doors last year, fitting classes around their busy schedules. Until this year they ran local school, Essendene Lodge. Steve said: "We have been working as a team for seven years so we know how well we work together and we are really excited to be building something from scratch. Soph stepped down as Deputy Head at the end of last year after giving birth to our son, Leo, and that has worked really well as she has been able to start up CrossFit classes in the day while I am at work."
Sophie added: "Coaching CrossFit and teaching children are both essentially about bridging the gap between what a person can do and what they want to be able to do. The reward is the same whether teaching a child to write their name for the first time or helping someone get their first pull up!"
