Church Walk Shopping Centre in Caterham is a finalist in the National SCEPTRE (Shopping Centre Excellent in People, Towns and Retail) Awards 2012 for Marketing Manager of the Year for a small shopping centre. The SCEPTRE awards are organised by Shopping Centre magazine and were launched in 2000 to recognise successes and achievements in the shopping centre industry. Shelley Filippi, Center Manager, was a finalist in 2009 for Marketing Manager of the Year, received a commendation for Manager of the Year for a Small Centre in 2010 and won Manager of the Year of a Small Centre in 2011. 2012 has seen a record number of entries; Shelley is a finalist with three other centres in the UK - Hildreds Shopping Centre Skegness, The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns and The Howgate Centre in Falkirk. Shelley, who joined Church Walk in August 2006, said: "This is absolutely fantastic news. It would not have been possible to be a finalist without the hard work of the onsite team and the response of our customers and tenants to the events we have created over the years. "We would like to thank the local shops, charity and community groups we have worked with on projects, that have ranged from Medieval Day, Caterham Arts Festival and school projects. A special thank you to Sonia Hunt, Caterham's Town Crier who has been involved with our promotions from the start in 2006. I have worked for four shopping centres and the community spirit in Caterham is by far the best." The centre has launched a website, www.churchwalkcaterham.com that links through to the Centre's Facebook page where photos of past events and press coverage can be viewed. |
