Sam Gyimah is thrilled to announce that Surrey County Council have granted funds to de Stafford School, Caterham, for a new school kitchen, dining facilities, hard play and covered area. Work at the school is expected to commence by early next year and completion of the dining facilities by the summer of 2013. Speaking after the announcement, Mr Gyimah said: "This is wonderful news for the school, staff and pupils. During a Q&A session with pupils last month, it became apparent that a new canteen was a top priority for the students and staff and as such I added my voice to their campaign and made representations to Surrey County Council. So I am thrilled that Surrey County Council has committed the funds in order to transform the schools' facilities. "The school has also seen an improvement in its most recent Ofsted report demonstrating that de Stafford is a school on the up. Congratulations to all those involved, with particular thanks to Leader of the Council, David Hodge and the Headmistress, Miss Longhurst for all their work to make this happen." |
