Tandridge District Council's Chairman for 2012-2013 is Councillor Sakina Bradbury. The previous chairman, Councillor Brian Perkins, presented her with the ceremonial chain of office when she was elected at last night's Annual Council meeting. The Vice-Chairman of the Council, also elected at last night's meeting, is Councillor Beverley Connolly, who represents Harestone Ward. Councillor Bradbury has lived in Caterham for 24 years and has represented Whyteleafe Ward since 2002. For the past year she has been the Council Vice-Chairman and from 2008-2010 Vice-Chairman of the Licensing Committee. During the last nine years she has served on many other committees. She is the current Vice-Chairman of Whyteleafe Village Council. She is a School Governor for Sunnydown School, has a keen interest in youth organisations and also set up the volunteer organisation Whyteleafe Helping Hands, which provides help to local residents to carry out everyday tasks such as shopping or transport. During her year the Chairman has chosen to support two charities and also hopes to recruit more volunteers for these organisations. The charities are: ? Tandridge Voluntary Service Council, which is committed to supporting all aspects of the voluntary and community sector in the Tandridge District. ? Matthew's Friends, a local epilepsy charity supporting specialised dietary treatments for drug-resistant epilepsy sufferers. Councillor Bradbury is a Natural Health Practitioner. She will be supported by her son, Adam an account executive and daughter Rebecca who is studying medicine. |
