On Sunday 20th May Tandridge District Councillor for Caterham Valley, Jane Ingham, took part in a charity skydive to raise money for the Emily Ash Trust, a charity that improves the lives of children and young people suffering with cancer. Nine people took part in the jump in Wiltshire, including Jane's friend Ginny, whose niece Molly sadly died of leukaemia at the age of 11. Jane said: "It was an amazing experience, jumping at 10.000 feet and freefalling for 5,000 feet before the parachute opened. After that, it was blissful and we drifted down enjoying views of Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and the Isle of Wight. I thought I would be really nervous – after all it isn't exactly a natural thing to chuck yourself out of a plane at 10,000 feet. But I'd do it again like a shot. Between us we raised over £5,000. It's a bit worrying though – the next fundraising suggestion is swimming with sharks or wing-walking!" |
