This year's Warlingham Fair, being held tomorrow, Saturday June 16th, will be one of the most spectacular ever, with free-flying birds, a fun dog show, Morris Men, 'It's a Knockout' for dogs, dance displays, and the regular tug o' war competition.

It will take place once again at Blanchman's Farm Local Nature Reserve, Limpsfield Road, Warlingham, opposite Bond Road. The official opening by May Queen Emily Careless, and Cllr Sakina Bradbury, chairman of Tandridge District Council, will be at 11am and the fair will close at 4pm.

As well as established favourites such as a variety of stalls and a children's funfair, this year's main attraction will be A World of Wings, free flying parrots, hornbills, storks, birds of prey and more in two stunning displays. Its professional bird trainers will be on hand to answer questions about the birds which can be viewed in their travel enclosures for the duration of the fair.

To encourage people to stay at the fair throughout the day and buy programmes, which help defray the increasing cost of staging the fair, this year there will be an hourly lucky programme draw, with the chance to win £25 in cash – sponsored by CR6 magazine – and £50 of Knights Garden Centre vouchers – sponsored by Knights.

On the stalls side there is something for all the family, from Celebrity Reptiles, where children can handle animals, to a beer tent from Botley Hill Farmhouse for adults. There will also be a hog roast and a barbecue.

The parade, reflecting the Fair's theme of the Olympics, will start from Redvers Road at 10.45am and progress around The Green to the main entrance.

Says fair chairman Jeremy Pursehouse: "We hope families will spend the whole afternoon at the fair, as there is plenty to see and do and lots to eat and drink. We have planned as much fun into the day as we can. The only thing we haven't planned is the weather, but the fun will continue, no matter what.

"The one thing we can never plan for is Tug o' War teams. To make the tournament a success, we need people to enter. We are looking for teams of eight (adult or children) that would like to enter."
