Members of Caterham Pumas football club are reeling after three attempted break-ins to their new clubhouse in Caterham-on-the-Hill over the Jubilee weekend.

On the evening of Friday 1st June evening the Club Secretary of Caterham Pumas, James Hinchliffe, received a call from the Club President Kevin Savage who told him that someone had damaged the lock on the door to the clubhouse in Joliffe Playing Ground. James and Kevin repaired the lock and returned to the clubhouse on Monday 4th June with the police.

James said: "When we got to the clubhouse with the police we could see that someone had had another attempt to break in but luckily they were unsuccessful again. This time we had to call out a locksmith to put a new lock on which cost the club £150."

The next day James got a phone call from the Fixtures Secretary, Graham Rouse, to say there had been a third attempt at a break-in. This time new hinges had to be put on the door.

James said: "The fact that they came back three times makes me think that they were determined to get into the clubhouse, but we keep nothing of value in there. We raised all the money to build the clubhouse ourselves with no grants and now we will have to pay for a new door, in addition to the money we have already spent on a new lock and hinges. We are now also looking into getting CCTV."

Established in 1998, Caterham Pumas have quickly grown into a recognised football club and currently have twenty three teams, spanning over ten age groups competing in the Epsom and Ewell League, Surrey Youth League, Womens and Girls League and the Tandridge League. They also have two adult teams that play in the Redhill and District Leagues.
