Officers from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team are appealing to members of the public to provide information following a recent spate of criminal damage and anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Godstone. The area surrounding Bay Pond in particular has been suffering from repeat acts of criminal damage which has included the dog waste bin being emptied into the pond, damage to fence posts and a gate after someone tried to remove them and damage to the viewing platform. Two young men have even been seen using a catapult to attack ducks in the vicinity. Godstone Specialist Neighbourhood Officer Sarah Warner, said: "Surrey Police will simply not tolerate such acts of mindless damage and cruelty and I am appealing to anyone with information to contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team as we need to find those responsible and bring them to justice. "Additional patrols will take place in the Bay Pond area not only in a bid to prevent further occurrences but in a bid to gain valuable information about recent incidents in the area." Officers are particularly concerned about the area as it is regularly visited by school groups and local fisherman, as well as being popular with dog walkers. Anyone who has information on anti-social behaviour or criminal damage in the area should contact the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team by calling 101 and quoting reference TD/12/2694 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Call 999 if you have a genuine emergency requiring the attendance of the police (eg a crime is in progress or someone is in immediate danger). Call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you have information about crime and don't want to leave your name. |
