Did you know that Surrey is the most wooded county in Britain? Or that Surrey has over 43 species of butterflies and 623 types of moths? These and other amazing facts can be discovered in Explore Surrey, a new magazine designed to inspire people to make the most of the county's landscape. Produced by Surrey County Council's Countryside team, the aim of the magazine is to encourage people to explore Surrey's beautiful outdoors and help boost the rural economy by doing so. John Furey, Surrey County Council's Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, said: "This magazine gives you a taste of some of the fantastic things you can do and see, as well as ways you can get involved to help us preserve the countryside for future generations. "Tell us what you think about the first issue of Explore Surrey and give your ideas about what could be included in the future. Copies can be picked up at libraries, council offices as well as online so why not take a look." The first edition of Explore Surrey suggests places to visit and offers walking routes. People can also find out how to volunteer to help preserve the landscape and get a taste of the many events taking place over the next few months. The magazine will be published twice a year in summer and winter. |
