In addition to its now well established art show and sale in the autumn, Warlingham Village Hall is now hosting an innovative new contemporary art show and sale of original paintings, graffiti prints, sculptures, etchings, photography and jewellery from local artists and craftsmen. The exhibition and sale, organised by Warlingham's own freelance creative artist Morgan Davy, is taking place on Friday July 27th, 5-11pm, Saturday July 28th, 10am-11pm and Sunday July 29th, 11am-4pm. Morgan has exhibited at The Graffik Gallery, Notting Hill, and The O2 Arena. His commissions have included a15ft high decorated horseshoe sculpture for Warlingham and District Horse Club, a 13ft by 5ft mural at The Black Sheep Bar in Croydon, and a customised hand painted Fender Stratocaster for Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, the world's leading guitar manufacturer. In addition to commissions and exhibitions Morgan also guides and teaches workshops that encourage skills and develop potential in individuals for all ages and abilities. In a lead up to the exhibition Morgan will be priming the Village Hall's graffiti-tagged garage door and inviting people to use the clean surface to leave a positive message about Warlingham. Following this the door will be used as a 'canvas' to create a mural. Warlingham Village Hall chairman, Jeremy Pursehouse said: "The hall provides a venue for a wide variety of local groups of all ages, but until now, any fundraising has been done by older age groups, so we are delighted that younger people are getting involved. "The hall's management committee is also delighted with the garage door project. It is constantly getting tagged with ugly graffiti. We are hoping that a street arty mural will improve the look and be less likely to be tagged. If it is tagged too much, our local young artists will just paint another mural or, if all else fails or the mural does not prove popular, we can simply solve the problem with a couple of coats of gloss."
