Surrey Police is continuing to appeal to the driver and four passengers of a silver or white hatchback to come forward following a serious assault in Guildford last Friday (July 13). The incident took place on Kings Road between 6.30pm and 6.45pm as 39 year-old Peter Hart from Guildford, was leaving Guilfest with his wife and 16-month-old child. As Mr Hart was walking along Kings Road with his family, he gestured to a vehicle to stop so they could cross the road with their pushchair. The vehicle stopped and a passenger got out and assaulted Mr Hart leaving him with serious head injuries. Nicola Hart, the wife of the victim said: "What happened to Peter has caused devastation to my family. I have been told he might die and our son William is only 16-months-old. I would appeal for anyone out there who knows anything about this to come forward." Mr Hart was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting where he remains in a critical condition. The offender is described as a white man, possibly with tanned skin, in his late 20s to early 30s and between 5ft 10ins and 6ft 2ins tall. He is of medium/muscular build, with short dark hair and was wearing a light coloured top and dark jeans or joggers. Since the incident, officers have been carrying out a number of enquiries to identify the offender and are appealing for anyone with any information, who has not yet spoken to police, to come forward. Detective Sergeant Anna Leahy, of Guildford CID , said: "It's been five days since the victim was assaulted and he remains in a critical condition with life threatening injuries. "This was a horrific attack on a man who was out enjoying a day with his family. As you can imagine, they have been through a terrible ordeal which is still continuing. "We are doing everything we can to try and find the person responsible and bring them to justice. Four men have so far been arrested and released without action and we continue to pursue a number of lines of enquiry. "I am appealing to anyone with information to come forward and speak to us - even if you think it is trivial it could prove vital to our investigation. Somebody somewhere knows who has done this and I urge them to contact us, even if it is anonymously through Crimestoppers." Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101 and quote reference number GD/12/6309. Alternatively they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous. Call 101 for all non-emergency policing matters.
