Surrey Police is appealing for information following an assault on an 18-year-old woman in Caterham. The assault took place between 12.30am and 12.40am on Thursday 12th July as the woman walked down Westway after disembarking a bus further down the same road. A man who had been on the same bus as the victim followed her while repeatedly asking for a kiss which she replied no to. The offender then forced the woman to kiss him by putting both hands round her face on three occasions as she walked in the direction of Coulsdon Road and St Michaels Road. Investigating officer Detective Constable Kerry Akehurst, said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault or who was on the number 466 bus from East Croydon Bus Station around this time to contact officers with information. "Although the victim was not hurt during the incident it was a frightening ordeal for her and we need to catch the man responsible." The suspect is described as an Asian man, aged around 21 to 25-years old, around 5ft 7ins in height, of small build with short, wavy black hair. He was carrying a black backpack. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference TD/12/3166. Call 101 for all non-emergency policing matters. Call 999 if you have a genuine emergency requiring the attendance of the police (eg a crime is in progress or someone is in immediate danger).
