The second annual Whyteleafe Village Fête on Sunday 1st June was a great hit with local residents again this year, although the regular downpours made things a little tricky for the stallholders! However, in between the showers there was plenty going on to entertain everyone, and delicious refreshents including homemade cakes, sandwiches and snacks from the Village Bakers stall. freshly cooked paella at the Costa del Sol stall, burgers and a beer tent. The Cats Protection League, St. Catherine’s Hospice and C.H.E.C.K. (Community Health and Education for the Children of Kimilili) and other charity stalls were generously supported by the visitors and some lucky winners went home with a prize from the Grand Raffle.
There will be more fun and games in Whyteleafe at the Help for Heroes day being organised for Sunday 16th September. Attractions will include a steam railway, vintage cars, a hawk display, a dog show and craft stalls with a parade taking place from St. Luke’s Church to the Recreation Ground.
