The 138 Caterham School pupils who took their GCSE exams this year produced another excellent set of results with another school record broken. ~ 44% of grades were A*, which is a new record for Caterham School (vs 42%) ~ 72% of grades were A* - A, which equals the previous record for the School ~ 91% of grades were A* - B ~ 99% of grades were A* - C ~ 13 students achieved all A* ~ 47 students achieved all A* - A Headmaster Julian Thomas said: 'These are an excellent set of results. It is pleasing that another school record has been surpassed particularly when it has been reported that the number of top grades at GCSE is likely to fall this year. These pupils have worked extremely hard and have participated in a wide range of co-curricular activities, showing once again that a broad and varied education can be enjoyed whilst still achieving academic success. Of critical importance is that, beneath the headline figures, there are numerous notable personal achievements with many pupils exceeding their expectations. Universities have made it clear in recent months that GCSE results will be hugely significant in their admissions processes so it is pleasing that our pupils have laid a firm foundation for the next stage of their education.'
