Next Monday 17th September will see members of the CR3 Forum dressing the window of 30 Croydon Road, Caterham, in preparation for taking over the shop to launch an exciting local project, the Neighbourhood Plan. When completed, the Neighbourhood Plan will influence local policies but must comply with certain rules, such as national policy and guidance and generally fit with Tandridge district Council's Core Strategy. Following the award of a £20K Government Frontrunner grant, the CR3 Forum is currently making very good progress in the two year program to develop the Plan in time for a referendum decision, which will be held on the same day as the European Elections in May 2014. A steering group comprising of representatives from Caterham Valley Parish Council, Caterham on the Hill Parish Council, Whyteleafe Village Council, Chaldon Village Council, Caterham Community Partnership and Caterham Business Partnership have been meeting regularly. Working Party groups have been looking at the individual areas of: Housing; Leisure/Community; Police/Education/Healthcare; Transport; Urban Design/Heritage and Utilities. The engagement to recruit volunteers to work with each of these Working Parties has started with public facing displays outside Morrisons in Caterham Valley and Tescos in Caterham-on-the-Hill. From these two day exercises over 60 volunteers have put their names forward to become involved. The CR3 Forum will be exhibiting, for further recruitment and public engagement, at The Help For Heroes Event at Whyteleafe Recreation ground on Sunday 16th September.
