Ridge Radio, the local community radio station for Tandridge with the support of Councillor Sally Marks, are launching a brand new Job Club on Monday 24th September with the purpose of offering support and guidance for people who are currently unemployed and need help finding work.

Sally Marks said: "This is an opportunity for people who are looking for work to interact with other people for support, help and guidance. We are also keen to offer new skills and interview techniques. Things like writing CVs are more difficult to do today than they were, say, thirty years ago. We are not about finding people jobs, but supporting people throughout their search."

The new Job Club will be run by Ridge Radio volunteer Eddie Webb.

Eddie said: "The job club enables you to meet other people in the same situation as you and gives them the chance to share their CVs and stories. When you lose your job it can make you feel very alone but the job club will help the unemployed people in our community realise they are not alone."

Mark Jones of Ridge Radio added: "The environment is key. It will be a relaxed, friendly atmosphere – we will offer support and a cup of tea. The members themselves will be involved in the running of the club."

Ridge Radio already has a strong history of supporting the local community and promoting local jobs. The new Job Club would welcome anyone who might have services to offer, for example a Human Resources professional.

The club will be fortnightly on Monday evenings from 6pm-8pm, commencing on Monday 24th September at the Ridge Radio studio at 77 Croydon Road, Caterham.
