The countdown to Tandridge District Council's new recycling service is well under way with the service due to launch throughout the borough on Monday, 1st October. The new bins have been distributed and letters have been sent out notifying residents of the collection days. On Monday 17th September members of Tandridge District Council attended a special assembly at Limpsfield CofE Infant School to mark exactly two weeks to go before the launch of the new service. Rob Luck, the Recycling Officer for the council, gave an entertaining talk to the children to explain how the new recycling service will work and gave examples of what happens to items sent for recycling. After the assembly, some of the children went outside where they were excited to see one of Tandridge's brand new shiny recycling lorries in the school car park. Speaking after the event, Councillor Tony Elias, Chairman of the Local Services Committee said: "We are about to make recycling for residents in Tandridge easier than it's ever been, with the chance to recycle more materials than before from the convenience of home. The children today showed they know how important it is to keep rubbish out of landfill. As our next generation of recyclers, I'm impressed with how they understand that we should always try to reduce what we do use, recycle as much as possible of what's left and only throw out what cannot be recycled or re-used." As part of raising awareness of the new service and encouraging people to recycle as much of their rubbish as possible, Tandridge District Council will be tweeting recycling facts and information every day in the run up to the commencement of the new service. Residents can follow the Council on Twitter @TandridgeDC.
