On Wednesday 17th October Caterham resident Stephen Coles and his friends Rob Far and Tom Franks set off from The Arc in Caterham-on-the- Hill on a 144 mile sponsored bike ride to Stonehenge in Wiltshire. They were supported by John Soffe from The Arc who accompanied them all the way in a van. The group arrived at Stonehenge at 2am the next morning. Stephen organised the sponsored bike ride to raise funds for Phase 2 of The Arc project, to renovate the second barracks gymnasium into a performing arts space. After the ride Stephen said: "We had a couple of mishaps on the way and the other two guys ended up having to take it in turns to ride the same bike, but I stayed on my bike the whole way, spending 11 hours in the saddle!" So far the ride has raised approximately £2,000 in sponsorship. Anyone wishing to help boost the fund can take a donation into The Arc in an envelope marked for 'The Arc Phase 2 Fund'. |
