On 28th-30th September Caterham Art Group held its 60th Art Exhibition at the Soper Hall in Caterham Valley. Deputy Chairman of Tandridge District Council, Beverley Connolly, opened the exhibition, then toured the show after presenting the award winners with their prizes. The theme for this year's exhibition was 'Celebration', which attracted an exciting range of interpretations. This year's award winners were: Best Theme Award: Venetian Celebration by Paolo Francis; Best Oil Award: Misty Morning by Mary Griffiths; Best Water Colour: Lymington Harbour by Anne Bailey; Best Pastel: Pink Balloon by Jackie Flaherty; Best Other Media: Amaryllis 2 by Sue Newman; Best Newcomer: Winter Scene by John O'Connell; People's Choice Award: Hamish by Jackie Flaherty (voted for by visitors to the exhibition). One of the exhibition organisers, John Ward of Caterham Art Group said: "This year's exhibition has been very successful. Our visitors have enjoyed the great variety of pictures and they like being able to have a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake while looking at the pictures. There has been a lovely atmosphere." Caterham Art Group meets at the Douglas Brunton Centre in Caterham-on-the-Hill once a month on a Wednesday evening. For more information visit www.caterhamartgroup.org.uk |
