Visiting Caterham next summer will be the four Headteachers of Kimilili Schools in Kenya. They will be the guests of the Caterham- based charity C.H.E.C.K. (Community Health and Education for the Children of Kimilili) who have supported the schools and the little hospital in the remote town in Western Kenya for many years. Many residents of Caterham and district have attended various events in the area to raise money for the children in the schools and hospital and this is a chance for the Headteachers to say thank you and to meet everyone. They have expressed a wish to visit as many schools, churches, groups and individuals as possible in order to tell them about how effective their help has been to the young people of Kimilili. If anyone would like the Headteachers to pay them a visit, please let Geraint Jenkins know at geraintjenkins01@ tiscali. co.uk or 01959 564772. They would be delighted to meet as many people as possible. Meanwhile, CHECK is organising several events in Caterham to raise money for the education and health of children in Kimilili. A concert by the local group 'The Stonebeats' is planned for next April and a Welsh Male Voice Choir Concert is taking place next July. CHECK is selling African Christmas presents including calendars at de Stafford's boot sales at the school on November 3rd and December 1st. Founder of CHECK, Geraint Jenkins MBE, said: "We are very excited about the Headteachers' visit next summer and want to introduce them to as many of our supporters as possible. The people of Caterham and district have been extremely supportive of the Kimilili community in the past, so please come and listen to the Kimilili Headteachers when they come to town next year! |
