At the Residents' Open Meeting in Chaldon on Thursday 25th October, Community Awards were presented to Madeline Castrey (under 21s) and Linda Oakes (21 and over). The winners each receive a shield for the year and a cheque for £50 but most importantly they receive recognition from the community for the service they have given.

Madeline is already well known in the area for her leading role in the group Charisma which has already collected over £6,000 for a children's hospice, Shooting Star, CHASE, with their wonderful concerts. Linda's award was for her very many years devoted service to one of Chaldon's institutions, Chaldon Amateur Dramatic Society (CADS), which this year celebrated 40 years of entertaining local audiences. The award was also for her service as a Trustee of Chaldon Village Hall and her constant support for another of Chaldon's institutions, the Chaldon Fête. The lastest CADs production is 'Knight Fever' (also starring Madeline) which will be on 30th November and December 1st at Chaldon Village Hall. Tickets are available from 01883 331400.
