The Club has been busy in recent weeks, starting with our World Sight Day event held at Knight's Garden Centre, Nags Hall. Each year the Club likes to help bring awareness to the plight of people who have impaired vision. Lions were called "Knights of the blind" by Helen Keller in the 1920's and since then sight related work has been at the forefront of our activities. This year we were joined by a number of guide dogs which were a great hit with the public. Our thanks go to Knights, the guide dogs and their owners. At the end of October the Club celebrated its 34th birthday with our annual Charter dinner. This was once again held at Nutfield Lodge and we were honoured to have Tandridge District Council Chairman, Sakina Bradbury as our guest of honour. It was a very good evening enjoyed by over 80 members and friends of COG's. Our November fund raising event was a Cockney evening featuring "Gordon Bennett". He went down a storm with the audience, some of whom dressed the part and really entered into the spirit of things. All the money raised at this event will be donated to the GRACE Project at St Luke's hospital in Guildford. The aim is to raise £50k to buy a new scanner for the early detection of gynaecological and prostate cancers. More details about the project can be found at www.grace-charity.org.uk Thanks to everyone who supported this event. Look out Santa is about! It's that time of the year again - Santa will be doing the rounds of Bletchingley, Caterham and Godstone. So look out for COG's Christmas float.
