Oasis Academy Coulsdon's stunning central Agora was reverberating with sound last night (Thursday 22nd November) when students put on the Academy's first Music Concert. A variety of bands performed Rock, Jazz, Samba, Glee Club and there was even a Ukulele Band. Over 50 students were involved in the performance which also included back stage hands, lighting and sound technicians. Many of the performers only started learning musical instruments in September so the concert provided a first opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Many proud parents and families attended the concert which was organised by Head of Music, Jason Gooding. Year 11, singer, Jasmin Winifred gave an outstanding solo performance and also was part of the final act - a quintet performing a Beyonce song 'Smash into You' which brought the audience to their feet. Deputy Principal Andy Booth said: "The concert was a great occasion; we have a lot of talent in the Academy. Many of the students were nervous but all are to be congratulated on their performance. We look forward to seeing their talents grow and I would like to thank Mr Gooding and the team of staff who put together a fantastic show." On Wednesday 5th December Oasis Academy Coulsdon will be hosting a Saltmine Theatre Production of everyone's favourite pantomime, Cinderella; in conjunction with Caterham Community Church.
